Concept for review.

Here is my interpretation of the brief from my client.

Web programming and design
Illustrated interpretation of the main interface and website design requirements
Ashley Quarrell

For the interface design website I intend to create a website which follows the main criteria of the brief. The main points that the client has requested are a neat and fun looking website which can be easily navigated with big clear buttons. The client requested a theme of a ‘balloon,’ which would assist in the navigation from page to page.

My intention is to create a site with large buttons using metaphors as the main function of navigation, with further information provided when rolled over. For example I would like to create the buttons in this type of style.

The site will be spacious whilst easy to navigate to avoid taking attention away from the text provided within the website. The colour scheme will be a blue style with a user-friendly feel, similar to the Mac OS interface. All information in the site will be displayed so that no horizontal or vertical scrolling is required by the user and easy to access links to further information.

The font choice within the site will be a smooth looking san serif font for the headings such as Century Gothic, but a easy to read serif font for the main text to avoid distraction from the text itself, I would like the content supplied by the client to be as easily read as possible.

Overall I intend to create a fun and easily functional website whilst using the strict guidelines set by the client. All initial ideas will be presented to the client during our weekly meetings for further discussion.

Design Brief for Matt Glover

Design Brief
Interface design and website

Client: Ashley Quarrell
Designer: Matthew Glover

Brief:

Use the provided raw information, images and instructions to create an interface design and website on the topic of 'successful and appropriate screen design.'

Requirements of the website are:
• It is easily to navigate.
• Can be navigated by a person with little or no knowledge of the English language.
• Have the ability to accommodate expansion.
• Use a colour scheme that makes the site look sleek and easy to view.
• Use metaphors in order to make the navigation of the page easy and exciting.

It is required that you meet with the client weekly to discuss the progress of the website and propose concepts for the final design of the user interface, through a series of annotated sketches.

On completion of final concept there will be discussions held with client with documented feedback on the concept. All discussions between the client and the designer will either be in person or communicated through the blog located at www.ashmultimedia.blogspot.com.

The final presentation will be a fully functional website with appropriate navigation.

Meet with client to discuss project Weekly
Present initial sketches to client 24 March
Present website 21 April

Edit: Thanks to Werner's observations, all of this brief now makes sense. In future I shall proof read all my documents.

Interface Design and website!

Hey Guys,

To avoid confusion i am going to just talk out the steps I am going to take to complete all aspects of the criteria.
First of all establishing who I am working for and who is working for me.

I am designing a website for Terry.
Matt is designing a website for me.

Here are the steps I am going to undertake. These steps will be fully detailed within this blog.

- Research and describe in detail the requirements of successful and appropriate interface design.

- Exchange material I have gathered with Matt and instructions on how I want the material to be displayed within the website.

- Receive material that Terry has gathered with instructions on how to make my website.

- Work with Terry to design a appropriate interface for the website I am to create.

- Create final interface layout solution in Photoshop or Illustrator.

- Resolve all "issues" with Terry about the Interface Layout.

- Create the interactive site within Dreamweaver.

This is just a basic layout of the steps I intend to undertake according to the criteria. This will be done whilst meeting with Terry weekly to ensure he is satisfied with the process of the design.
